Fall 2024

Charleston Classical Guitar is one of the only studios in Charleston offering guitar classes. The studio is teaching a Beyond Basic Guitar Chords Class, a Scales Up the Neck Guitar Class, and an Over 55 Beginning Guitar Class this fall. There is a minimum and maximum amount of students for each class. Rooms need to be rented and teachers need to be paid. Also, there is a small materials fee for each class. Below each class description, you will find a list of necessary items needed before beginning.

Beyond Basic Guitar Chords Class

Start Date: Nov. 5, 2024
End Date: Dec. 17, 2024
Number of Sessions: 6 (Off the week of Nov. 25)
Day/Time: Tuesdays 7-7:45 pm
Costs: $125
Minimum/Maximum Participants: 6/10

Description: This 6-week course allows guitar students to move beyond a basic understanding of chords. Students will learn the triads, and 7th chords, and apply them to chord progressions. The class explores the theory behind the chords and how to incorporate them into playing.  The class has a $35 nonrefundable registration fee. This amount is applied to the tuition price once class begins.

Scales Up the Neck Guitar Class

Start Date: Nov. 7, 2024
End Date: Dec. 19, 2024
Number of Sessions: 6 (Off the week of Nov. 25)
Day/Time: Thursdays 7:00-7:45 pm
Costs: $125
Minimum/Maximum Participants: 6/10

Description: This 6-week course allows guitar students to move beyond a basic understanding of scales. Students will learn the major and minor scales up the neck of the guitar for use in soloing and fretboard knowledge. The class explores the music theory of scales and the patterns necessary to build fluency. The class has a $35 nonrefundable registration fee. This amount is applied to the tuition price once class begins.

Over 55 Beginning Guitar Class

Start Date: Sept. 23, 2024
End Date: Dec. 16, 2024
Number of Sessions: 12 (Off the week of Nov. 25)
Day/Time: Mondays 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Costs: $240 (plus $15 materials fee*)
Minimum/Maximum Participants: CLOSED – CLASS HAS BEGUN

Description: This 12-week course provides beginning guitar students over 55 years of age the foundation to start playing! Students will learn the guitar parts, the strings’ names, tuning, and strumming/picking techniques. The class explores the basics of music theory through music notation, notes in the first position, chords, rhythms, and songs.

*The material fee includes the book and printouts we will use for the course.
